Delirious

I just finished ordering nearly 35 € worth of Hellmann's mayonnaise and Jif peanut butter. Five little jars of mayo and 2 little jars of peanut butter. And I am over the moon excited.

That's sad. So very, very sad.

Then again I'm going to be a lot less sad when I get to eat tomato sandwiches and peanut butter, banana and mayonnaise sandwiches with the proper mayonnaise and peanut butter.

Do you ever go to Slovakia or the Czech Repbulic? They had an entire shelf of Hellmann this weekend in Bratislava. Yeah it was the little jars but it was still only like 1 euro. I so thought of you but they had it in the fridge section. Otherwise I swear I would have bought like five and mailed them. I almost had a cardiac myself.

I'm a cold spaghetti and dill pickle girl, myself. Of course the spaghetti has to be made with Ragu, and Europe doesn't have Ragu that I know of. Or proper dill pickles.

It's the little things that make life worth living, and a girl's gotta eat, right? May as well eat what you love the most. Enjoy that Hellmann's!

I like PB and fried bolongna or bacon myself. Everyday I drive past a sonic and think of you. I am going to have to stop. Tuesday is Mandy's last day of school I think I will take her there for lunch.

The only thing that could be better than a tomato and mayonnaise sandwich on very fresh white bread is a big glob of mayonnaise next to a freshly cooked artichoke.
Mexico has Hellmann's.

Believe EVERY EU country has Hellmans, except Germany. I too pay the price. Have youn tried Barney´s Best Peanut Butter? I KNOW it is NOT Jiff but on the shelves, at least here in Hamburg! I AM a peanut butter fiend and would make ANY tomato sandwich with it ... or from a spoon.

I second that on the Barney's Best PB. My hubby bought some at Rewe a couple of weeks ago and it was actually good. Jif is my fav and I thought this stuff tasted pretty close.

I have gotten Barney's Best when I've found it but they don't carry it at Kaufland - they've sell Comtessa and it blows. Tastes like eating sand. And every time I'm at a Rewe I forget to buy Barney's.

I'm hoping my Jif and Hellmann's haul will last me until this fall when I can get back to the States and stock up for the winter.

It is totally not sad! Comforts like this of home are part of ex-pat life, no matter what the cost.

I just can't believe you can't get Hellmann's there. I actually thought it was a German brand! We can usually get Skippy peanut butter in any store here but you can get Jif at the store that has tons of foreign foods, if you want to pay 7 euros for a jar of it. I don't eat it fast enough to pay that much for it!

I would go without ever eating a sandwich again if I had to eat the wrong kind of mayo on it.

I'd be excited as well!

Girlfriend, I've been making mayo because I've been missing BLTs so badly!

PS - Bacon, PB, and mayo sandwiches are a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Bacon, PB and mayo sandwiches are so delicious that I'm hoping they have a lot of them in heaven.

The cost blows for sure, but I cannot imagine life without my Hellmans. A friend made me a sandwich the other day with Kraft Mayo. It just wasn't right.
