And it's not even July

I just used the last bit of the Hellmann's mayonnaise that I brought home with me from Mississippi last November (yes, the expiration date on it was in April but hell's bells, when I was a kid we didn't even have expiration dates on anything and I survived quite nicely, thank you).

Let the shit hemorrhage panic begin.

I'm going to need to put in an emergency order in at this place because I can't face summer, with all its sandwiches and salads, without Hellmann's.

I put the squeeze bottle with its remaining dregs back into the refrigerator. Maybe overnight the mayonnaise fairies will refill it.

Well, first of all they don't sell Hellmann's here and I'm a fiend for Hellmann's. But...

Germans don't really eat sandwiches like we're used to - they usually eat open faced things and don't put anything on the bread or if they do it's usually butter. Mayonnaise is for salads - potato, macaroni, etc. - and so the mayos they sell here are thinner and have a somewhat sweeter flavor that I simply hate on a sandwich. I can make do fine making potato salad with Knorr mayonnaise but I'd never eat it on a sandwich or put it in tuna.

Someone here can't just ship you some? Is that some kind of no-no?

hey dixie,

you can get hellman's just about anywhere in london if not all of the UK. if you want me to try and ship some to you, i'd be happy to. they will be more lax about things coming from within the EU, after all. i just bought a GIANT sized jar on sale the other day, no less, so it would be no problem -- i can literally get it in pretty much every corner shop!

and i know what you mean about that thinner sweeter mayo. it's called salad cream here and it's...interesting.

Mollie, you know I hate for you to ship me mayonnaise until it's a dire emergency. You fork out enough for shipping as it is.

Actually I've tried to avoid asking for Hellmann's from the US ever since my sister shipped me four squeeze bottles at Christmas time. The dickheads at the post office took over six weeks to get the airmailed package to me and in that time the mayo froze and then thawed and went rancid.

I'm going to order some from the German mayo connection I have here - I think they sell it in the squeeze bottles now. If it's still the wee tiny jars like last time, I may be hitting you up for a Hellmann's shipment, Candace!

Y'all are sweet to worry about my Hellmann's fetish! :)

I do worry about you and your Hellmanns! I think of it as one of your little American luxuries over there and I hate the idea of you with dry sandwiches!

Yeah- I see your point in shipping Hellmanns in Summer!

I wonder if October could be named Prime Mayonnaise Shipping Month?!
