Oh why not?
As much as it pains me to admit this and as much shit as some of y'all, in private, will give me and as embarrassing as it is to say, I still have stuff in boxes. Like eight boxes are still unpacked from my move. Isn't that pathetic? I simply haven't motivated myself enough to unpack this last dribble of crap so I can walk around my back sitting room without dodging a cardboard fortress and I can get B's wheelchair out of the hallway and parked in the afore mentioned back sitting room before the wheels dent the shit out of the lino.
And then a small voice inside me says "Just throw it out. You haven't used it in the last eleven weeks so why not just ditch it? Half of it's probably just junk anyway that you ended up chucking in a box during last minute panic packing.".
I know half of you are saying "Stop being lazy and just unpack it! It'll be easier!" and the other half of you are quietly chanting "Do it! Pitch it! Do it!" just to see if I really will.

I say open boxes keep a few things and ditch the rest!
Like a trim..."just a little off the back"
hi, my name is kara and i once lived in an apartment for 2 years with boxes i had never unpacked.
i would also mention the current living situation, in which i have a several packed boxes around my residence, but they were unpacked at one time, so it's not the same. :)
Dixie - still life is right on. Go through it - and ditch the stuff you don't use... I'm sure you can do away with most of it. Sell it if all else fails!
Unpack it in stages? Or set a timer for, say, 15 minutes, and just dive into one box, throwing away as much as possible. That way you can at least reduce the number of boxes, and know how much storage space you'll need for the stuff you want to keep.
We've still got a couple of boxes in the cellar and office that we haven't upacked yet. We moved in over 3 years ago!
I think when we unpack them we will probably throw out what is inside as we have lived for 3 years without the stuff - so it cant be that important. :)
pffft. when i moved into my apartment now, i said, "self, you are moving out of this apartment in july. might as well spend the next 9 months living out of boxes so it's less to pack."
to this day, i have no idea where a can opener is. thank god for taco bell.
Honey, we moved into this house *10 years ago* - wanna come over and see our unpacked boxes? Seriously, I have no idea what's even in there. :-)
One step at a time...
You get no shit from me until they are there over a year. E and I had boxes stacked in the back bedroom until we'd been in the house a year. What made us finally empty them, you ask? My brother needing to move in after Katrina. :-0
Susan, I know if you were here my boxes would have been unpacked ages ago. I need to live near you again, sweetie. You keep me righted. I have married the male version of you but he's unable to help me or check up on me so I'm afraid I slip into slacking without a watchful eye around.
And you will be so proud of me. I have mended my Christmas tree ways. As my friend, Mollie, says "It just has to be up for Jesus' birthday, not for yours as well!" Mine was down and packed away on January 2. Of course the boxes of decorations haven't been carted down to the basement yet...
I STILL have my vintage ornaments hanging up in the windows! They're beautiful...
Mikki, you get special permission to do whatever you wish. You are the Queen!
My mother has at least 10 boxes she hasn't unpacked and she moved 18 years ago!
I say just haul them down to your storage and forget about them. Whatever is in them can't possibly be anything you'll NEED on a day to day basis, but if you went to the trouble of packing and moving the stuff, there must be some reason why you should keep it (I'm harkening back to the posts you wrote us where you discovered long lost precious things), so don't just get rid of the boxes. Keep them... but put them away. How's that for middle of the road?! Ha!
